My Voice from the Past II

I can feel how much I missed it when we moved to the island. This move and my illness are the two biggest turning points in my life so far. Here is my second installment. July My mom read the pages I wrote. She thought it was perfect. Well I did tell practically my whole life history. She reads a lot so I guess she should know. I like to read too. I also like comic books. All kinds like Batman and Mad magazine. I don t get to watch much t. because we only get two stations and they are pretty much lame most of the time. My mom hardly ever watches t. because she s always reading and working which includes a lot of record keeping and typing on the computer. She is constantly writing reports to her supervisor about the project she is working on with him. Blenny is a reader too. She is also a musician. I used to like the songs she d make up about stuff that happened. She was always making up songs about things she was interested in like gravity and anim! als. I don t know if the Squirt will ever sit still long enough to learn to read. Mom says she lives in her own world and it s constantly in motion. I guess I should get to what happened today. I took a long walk down to the ocean people call it the water here . There were no waves except when a boat went by. It s like an endless lake not like the beach at Santa Cruz. The waves never stop there and the signs all say dangerous undertow swim at your own risk. Here there are no big ones. The tide goes up and down. And sometimes the beaches disappear and the dock is almost flat. I didn t notice the tides so much before unless it was very low or high. There are lots of purple and pink starfish on the rocks and little crabs that scurry under rocks. Blenny loves to pick up the tiny ones. They just sit in her hand and wave their tiny claws fiercely at her. Mom says that we will be living here for a while but when I ask how long. She says she doesn t know exactly may! be a couple of years. I think maybe that will be a long while with no t. But at least mom seems more relaxed without my father around. I guess there aren t many jobs like that around. I like sand better than rocks and I like waves. I do have boom box and my books. Boy I guess I am feeling a little depressed about all this.

Reflections of a life

Thinking about friends and family members that are in other cities or have passed on into another life. I m trying to think about my next move and where will this adventure in my life take me. My dream is to help educate others through my art. We need to help them get rid of the slave mentality. Just because your elders went through something or injected their experiences into your head doesn t mean its right. As a people as an individual we have an obligation to question the system. Planes Skiis and Paramedics

It was a nice vacation the mountains were beautiful the snow was fun. Eli got sick days before we left for vacation and stayed sick for days into our vacation. on the second day. We were worried that we were missing something. he kept complaining that his stomach hurt had a bad cough and just listless. But after getting checked out the doc agreed that it was probably just a virus. On Christmas day we had lunch and enjoyed the family until about . We got settled and crashed for the night. Eli Jonathan Leah and I stayed at the cabin and let the boys play. It was nice to just sit for a change. Granny and Pockie joined us on Wednesday evening. We played canasta until all hours of the night. On Thursday we all got up and went down to the ski lodge. We attempted to convince Eli to ski but he just wasn t interested. Granny and Pockie took him back to the cabin and I stayed with Al to ski. I fell and hurt my knee. it was supposed to be a picture of me coming d! own the mountain. We returned to Edgemont from the cabin through Mt. Rushmore and Custer State Park. It was VERY cold at Mt Rushmore but good to see the view. Eli and Jonathan just thought it was the coolest thing ever. We got home a little after midnight. Santa came while we were gone and brought Eli a race track and a red motorcycle. It has been next to impossible to get him off of it for days now. We rang in the New Year with a few friends at home. We wish you all a happy as we pray for peace and new blessings.
